Tiger's eye is the stone of steady nerve. Its solar plexus and root pairing describes exactly that: confidence built on ground rather than bravado.
Its name and its appearance do a lot of the symbolic work — the watchful eye, the golden gaze, the sense of seeing clearly and acting decisively. It has a long history as a protective amulet, worn by Roman soldiers among others.
