• Keep it away from water. Calcium carbonate is slightly soluble and will dull and etch with repeated water contact. Dry cloth only — no rinsing, no water cleansing.
• No acids. Vinegar, citrus and most household cleaners will visibly etch it.
• No salt, which is abrasive and damaging at this hardness.
• Handle clusters very carefully. The radiating crystal points are fragile and snap easily — this is the most common damage I see.
• Store it separately and padded, since nearly everything else will scratch it.
• Keep it out of direct sun, which can fade the red.
• Dry cleansing only: moonlight, sound, smoke, or a selenite plate.

Is Red Aragonite Right for You?

If you run hot, get overstimulated easily, or want a grounding stone that feels warm rather than heavy, red aragonite is a thoughtful choice. The sputnik clusters are also among the more visually distinctive things you can put on a shelf.

It is not the right pick if you want something to carry loose in a bag or handle casually. At 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale with fragile projecting crystals, it wants a settled home. Red jasper gives you similar grounding warmth in a far tougher stone.
