• No acids of any kind. Vinegar, citrus and most household cleaners will visibly etch calcite.
• No salt, which is abrasive and damaging at this hardness.
• Store it separately and padded. At 3 on the Mohs scale, virtually everything else you own will scratch it, and it chips if dropped.
• Keep it out of direct sun, which fades the green over time.
• Dry cleansing only: moonlight, sound, smoke, or a selenite plate.

Why has my green calcite gone dull?
Almost always moisture or acid contact. Water cleansing, damp storage, or contact with anything acidic will etch the surface and remove the waxy lustre. Unfortunately it does not reverse, so prevention is the only fix — keep it dry and handle it gently.
